I wanted to use my first post as an intro to what my vision is for this blog and a small overview of the baseball world right now. First off, if you've made it this far into my post, you either share the same love for the game of baseball that I do, or you got lost looking up YouTube. Either way, you made it! I started this blog as a school project, but it is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time. I love the game of baseball and I want to be able to share that love with the world. Whether my posts reach 5 people or 500, I feel like I have accomplished something. I played the game since I was little and did not receive the opportunity to continue on to the next level of the game. Since I can no longer play, I want to share my knowledge another way. And since I cannot coach at the moment due to the pandemic, what better way than blogging about it? On that note, lets get to recent baseball news. although there has not been much going on besides rumors, one thing that has really hit home to me is how colleges are beginning to cut their baseball programs due to budget cuts. It is a huge issue because not only is it less baseball to watch, but it is taking away opportunities for the next generation of ball players. If this continues, baseball will be hard to play in college because it is "not as important" as other sports, so it will continue to be cut before other collegiate sports. With programs being cut, this causes athletes to lose scholarships, opportunities to play at the next level, and even making the opportunity for some students to continue getting an education a challenge. Athletes should not get punished because of the sport they choose to play.
