Important news just dropped that the MLB season is officially going to happen this year. With all of the discussions between the owners and the players association, an agreement was finally made to have the MLB season happen in 2020. It will be a 60 game season with a universal DH, extended playoffs, and a couple of other changes for rosters and stuff like that. It is an important move by the league because baseball is starting to be considered a dying sport, and if there had been no season this year, there would be a huge loss of fans focusing on other sports. With all of the excitement on there being a season this year, a lot of people have overlooked the fact that there have been no statement about whether or not fans will be allowed in attendance at these games. so many baseball fans are already looking forward to going to games, not realizing that they might not be allowed to watch from the bleachers this year. With this pandemic still being a big problem, it is important to keep the athletes, staff, and fans safe, which could mean baseball will be played in empty stadiums for a whole season. It also poses questions of what crazy stats will be achieved this season since it is only 60 games. Will someone hit .400? Will someone have a 0.0 ERA? Plus, this also makes the World Series more achievable to everybody than it usually is. In years past, bad teams knew that they had no chance at a pennant, but this year it is literally anybody's year. A team that would normally wind up at the bottom of the standings could go on a short run and end up in a top playoff spot. This shortened season with updated rules will prove to be one of the most interesting and unusual season baseball has ever seen.
